The most relevant motive for this merger was the strategic complementariness in terms of Corus Group agreed to sell its stainless-steel interests to Finnish partner Outokumpu, as the Anglo-Dutch steel company took a big step to rid itself of noncore assets and focus on carbon steel. AvestaPolarit is one of the world´s major manufacturers of stainless steel.
